Unforeseen events can occur anytime; sometimes, they’re dreadful and drastic for many families. Although plane crashes are not so common in aviation nowadays, you may have heard about some plane crashes in recent days. Recently, a plane crashed in Kazakhstan while making an emergency landing and risking approximately 70 lives.
On the day of Christmas, a passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines met with a serious accident near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. There were five attendants and 62 passengers on board, among which at least 28 people have reportedly survived, and the survivors include children who are being treated at the nearest hospital.
The video of the plane crash showed how the plane burst into flames upon hitting the ground. Over 50 rescuers rushed to the crash site and took control of the situation. Kazakh officials said a flight carrying specialist doctors from Astana had been sent, and more than 150 emergency workers had reached the site.
The transport minister of Kazakhstan said, "A plane doing the Baku-Grozny route crashed near the city of Aktau. It belongs to Azerbaijan Airlines." The airline said their Embraer 190 had made an emergency landing on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea, about 2 miles from Aktau.
The actual reason for the crash is under investigation. Russia's aviation watchdog said in their statement that preliminary information suggested a bird strike could have been why the pilot decided to make an emergency landing. New agencies said the plane departed from Baku and arrived in Grozny, Chechnya, but it was rerouted from its path due to foggy weather. Some speculate that this might be the actual reason behind the Embraer 190 eventually going to some system failure because of a bird strike and the pilot having decided to go for an emergency landing.
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin's spokesperson, said, "Unfortunately, Azerbaijan's President Aliyev was forced to leave St Petersburg (where he had a summit). Putin has already called him and expressed his condolences in connection with the crash of the Azerbaijani plane in Aktau. We deeply sympathize with those who lost their relatives and friends in this plane crash and wish a speedy recovery to all those who managed to survive."
The first lady of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, said, "Deeply saddened by the news of the tragic loss of lives in the plane crash near Aktau. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. Wishing them strength and patience! I also wish a speedy recovery to the injured."
